Oval cut lab-grown diamonds
Oval cut lab-grown diamonds with an elongated silhouette
Oval cut lab-grown diamonds combine the brilliance associated with a round diamond with a longer, softer outline. That elongated shape gives the stone a distinctive presence and makes it especially well suited to engagement rings where the centre diamond is intended to lead the design.
Why does an oval diamond look different on the hand?
An oval diamond spreads its weight across a longer surface rather than concentrating it in a perfectly round shape. Because of this, two diamonds with the same carat weight can look noticeably different depending on their proportions. The length-to-width ratio also changes the character of the stone, from softly rounded to more slender and elongated.
From delicate 0.15 ct to a more prominent 1.00 ct
Oval lab-diamonds work well across a broad range of sizes. Smaller stones keep the ring light and understated, while 0.50 ct and 1.00 ct centre stones create much more visual presence. The right size depends less on following a rule and more on how the diamond sits within the setting and on the hand.
Yellow, white or rose gold?
The same oval diamond can feel very different depending on the metal around it. White gold creates a cooler, more seamless look, yellow gold brings stronger contrast, and rose gold adds warmth to the design. Choosing the gold colour you already wear most often is usually a good starting point.
Let the oval shape remain the focus
An oval centre stone works beautifully in simple solitaire settings, but it can also be framed by pavé details or smaller side diamonds. The most successful designs keep the proportions balanced, allowing the shape of the oval diamond to remain clear rather than getting lost in the setting.
