What is a half-round wedding band?
A half-round wedding band has a gently curved outer surface that creates the softly domed profile associated with traditional plain wedding rings. The rounded shape gives the band a smoother outline than a flat profile and allows polished gold to catch the light in a continuous reflection. At GREMARI, half-round wedding bands are crafted in 14K (585) yellow and white gold and are available as individual rings or pairs, in widths from 2 to 6 mm.
Half-round or flat wedding band – what is the difference?
The main difference is the shape of the outer surface. A half-round wedding band rises gently towards the centre, giving it a softer, more rounded appearance, while a flat wedding band has a straight, level surface and a more geometric outline. The curved edges of a half-round profile also feel less angular between the fingers, which is one reason this shape has remained a classic choice for everyday wedding rings.
Are half-round wedding bands comfortable to wear?
The rounded exterior gives a half-round wedding band a smooth feel around the edges, but comfort also depends on the inside of the ring. A comfort-fit interior is slightly curved on the inside, reducing pressure against the finger and making the ring easier to put on and remove. Many GREMARI half-round wedding bands combine the traditional domed outer profile with a comfort-fit interior for everyday wear.
What width should you choose for a half-round wedding band?
The curved profile looks noticeably different as the width changes. A 2–3 mm half-round band has a finer, lighter appearance, 4 mm gives the classic domed shape more definition, while 5–6 mm creates a fuller look on the hand. GREMARI half-round wedding bands are available from 2 to 6 mm, and selected pairs combine different widths, so both rings can share the same profile without having to be identical in proportion.
